Oil Pressure '73.5 911T

Vehicle Information: Model: 911t; Year: 1973; Body Type: Coupe; Engine (type, size, modifications): 2.4; Total Mileage: 130000;

Low oil pressure on my gauge prompted me to investigate the gauge/sending unit. I took it to a local mechanic to check the oil pressure with an external gauge. His findings were the following--15 lbs. cold 11 lbs. warmed up. This tells me that the sending unit and gauge are ok. I forgot to mention the engine was rebuilt approx. 15K ago. My question is this, could it be a stuck oil pressure relief valve? Would a complete leakdown be a more thorough test? What else should I look at before complete overhaul? Thanks for any replies, M.
