Oil pressure drop and increased oil temperature

Engine

Vehicle Information: Year: 1978; Body Type: Targa;

A new experience this year. Morning driving is good. Afternoon driving in 70-80 degrees F seems to be causing a rise in temperature and a decrease in pressure. I have had the car for three years with no problems with temp or pressure (even during autocrossing in summer). this summer after warm-up in the afternoon temps mentioned the temp will start to rise (after sitting thru several red lights), the pressure will barely go above 2 bar at 3000 RPM and the idle will increase to 1500+ RPM. Oil level stays good (no leaks) and the oil cooler and lines seem hot to the touch. With steady driving at 3000-4000 RPM (no red lights) the temp and pressure seem get better but not as good as it used to be. Any ideas on where to start (clean thermostat springs, new cooler, etc.)????Thanks Rich
