oil pump seal leak

Vehicle Information: Model (Boxster, Boxster S,Cayman, Cayman S): Boxster S; Year: 2002; Engine (type, size, modifications): 3.2; Total Mileage: 40,000; Transmission: Manual;

I was informed by the dealer that the car needs a new oil pump seal. In addition the RMS needs to be replaced. In October 08 the dealership previously replaced the RMS and clutch. At the end of November 2008 the car was garaged for the winter, and taken out of storage March 28, 09.Upon removal from storage I noticed a puddle of oil on the tarp beneath the engine, and brought it back to the dealership.They then determined that the RMS and oil pump seal were leaking and needed replacement.I was told that this sometimes happens when a vehicle is put into storage.I''m wondering why this is happening and if it''s related to anything else that is defective. The car is out of warranty; is there a hidden warranty for the oil pump seal? The RMS repair is covered by warranty under the previous repair in October of 2008.Thanks.
