oil/exhaust odor

Heating and Ventilation

Vehicle Information: Model: 911; Year: 1985; Body Type: Targa; Engine (type, size, modifications): 3.2; Total Mileage: 125k;

i recently purchased a 1985 911 with 125k mi. i notice an odor of oil/exhaust in the cabin. it is most pronounced when the heater is on. the motor leaves no oil leaks on my garage floor. is it possible that fumes are somehow making their way into the heating system through a bad gasket? there were a few other posts on this thread that noted a similar problem but i was wondering if there are any other potential culprits other than oil leaking onto a heat exchanger. leaky gasket, etc.? thanks.
