PDK Minimum RPM adjustment

After a few weeks with a new Boxster 718, I am wishing that the PDK would shift at higher RPMs in normal mode.  For example, if I am driving casually, it can get up to 6th gear at 36 mph.  Then, if I wanted to accellerate quickly, I would need to downshift twice to get the engine above 2000 RPMs.  Based on some information that I found on the COBB website, I think the following is how this car is currently set.

Minimum Shift Levels for Porsche Normal

  • 1st -> 2nd, 10 mph, 1750 rpm -> 1100 rpm
  • 2nd -> 3rd, 17 mph, 1850 rpm -> 1400 rpm
  • 3rd -> 4th, 23 mph, 1800 rpm -> 1400 rpm
  • 4th -> 5th, 28 mph, 1750 rpm -> 1450 rpm
  • 5th -> 6th, 36 mph, 1800 rpm -> 1500 rpm
  • 6th -> 7th, 47 mph, 2000 rpm -> 1400 rpm

Minimum Shift Levels for Porsche Sport

  • 1st -> 2nd, 13 mph, 2400 rpm -> 1500 rpm
  • 2nd -> 3rd, 23 mph, 2500 rpm -> 1700 rpm
  • 3rd -> 4th, 31 mph, 2500 rpm -> 2000 rpm
  • 4th -> 5th, 40 mph, 2500 rpm -> 2100 rpm
  • 5th -> 6th, 49 mph, 2500 rpm -> 2000 rpm
  • 6th -> 7th, 68 mph, 2900 rpm -> 2000 rpm

I notice that sport mode is keeping the engine above 2000 RPMs, which is certainly part of why sport mode is so responsive.  For normal mode, it would be nice, if the transmission shifted at a higher RPMs.  I am just guessing, but the following minimum shift levels seem much better to me.

  • 1st -> 2nd, shift at, 2100 rpm
  • 2nd -> 3rd, shift at, 2200 rpm
  • 3rd -> 4th, shift at, 2200 rpm
  • 4th -> 5th, shift at, 2200 rpm
  • 5th -> 6th, shift at, 2200 rpm
  • 6th -> 7th, shift, 2400 rpm

Is it possible to have a dealer adjust this?  And is there any reason not to do this?  I notice that COBB offers a sport mode that is even much higher.  For most gears it keeps the RPM in the 3000 - 4000 range.  Is this a good idea?  Thanks in advance for all of your thoughts.
