Pertronix Ignitor II for Porsche 911 with CDI

Pertronix Ignitor II on 911 with CDI I just purchased a Pertronix Ignitor II from Pelican for a 74 Porsche 911 with CDI. I understand the instructions with the unit indicating that I wire the red and black leads to the coil terminals will not work as they are for a Porsche without the CD box.... I understand that the black lead from the Pertronix unit should be wired to the black lead from the CDI unit that is located at the base of the distributor and the red wire from the Pertronix unit needs a 12v power source, powered when the ignition switch is turned on. On the Pelican Forum, I understand that this could be connected upstream from the power supply at the CDI box. On this application, what happens to the tach wire that is also clipped at the base of the distributor---should it stay connected there or moved? In other words, will my tach work if the CDI lead is no longer connected to the base of the distributor? Now, I am new to Porsche ignitions, so please advise if what I am thinking below is feasbile. Does the lead from the points (under the cap) that was connected to the terminal on the breaker plate connect to the CDI and Tach leads at the base of the Bosch distributor? If so, why couldn't the black lead from the Pertronix Unit be connected to where the points wire is connected on the breaker plate? Won't that then connect to the CDI lead and tach leads at the base of the distributor--or am I not understanding the electrical flows? Second, if I need a power source when the ignition switch is turned on, would I fry the CDI box if I connected the red lead from the Pertronix Unit to the battery lead (positive) at the coil? Isn't that lead activated with 12v when the ignition switch is turned on? Thanks for your help with this.....
