Pertronix Ignitor install

Vehicle Information: Model: 911 Carrera, European; Year: 1976; Body Type: Targa; Total Mileage: 102,000;

Purchased Pertronix Ignitor. Went to install a few weeks ago and realized that unlike "normal" cars, my point lead wire does not connect to coil but instead goes to CDI. Per Pertronix instructions, it states to connect red wire to + coil side and black to - side. Doesn't make mention for us folks with CDI. Did try connecting red wire to lead that "normaly" connect to points (from CDI) and although scared of frying my CDI, I tried it. Didn't work. If I'm supposed to follow Pertronix instructions litterly and connect red and black wires to coil and just tape up lead from CDI, I assume I'll loose the benefit of CDI enhanced spark?I appreciate your time addressing this. In meantime I'm back to points and trying to figure why I can't get dwell while still keeping fairly close to point gap specs...
