Since Porsche has elected to slowly behead the CD data base on its nav systems by electing to cancel any data updates after 2002, I was wondering if anyone has found another replacement source for the CDs that are slowly but surely becoming less useful. Navtech, the company that issues the CDs says that approximately 15% of the data in each CD is changed or revised every year. Porsche cites its product improvement policy that states that improvements, changes or alterations will not be peformed on cars already on the road. The GPS system works fine. Itdoes not need any improvement or alteration, but it does require periodic data updates to maintain the funtionality that one might expect on a $3400 extra on a car that cost $135,000and is still in warranty. The last update disc was not free. It came in at about $150. I'll gladly pay for a current CD.
