Possible purchase of 1984 930

Engine

Vehicle Information: Year: 1984; Engine (Size, Modifications): 3.3 turbo; Total Mileage: 82k;

Hi, in considering the purchase of a 1984 Euro 930 with 82k, extremely well maintained, (essentially stock, and in excellent mechanical condition) by the second owner at Randolf Racing in Mass. for at least the past 15 years, I have been urged to change to an Electromotive XDI ignition to avail proper timing advancement (reduce heat & increase performance) as well as install an ARP stud kit and mill the head and/or block to accept a head gasket kit (no gasket on 3.3s?). Additionally. they suggested a Tri-Floe exhaust system. This poses a considerable additional investment beyond the purchase of a truly "cream-puff" car... They also pitched a street/track suspension upgrade to the tune of $4300.00. I will be a beginner at the track with this car (experienced with '98 BMW M3 and street driving an '84 911 Cabriolet), and don't expect to run the car (initially) beyond 8 or 9/10. What's your take on the ingnition mod and addition of a head gasket? As a (careful) beginner, and having the car thoroughly safety checked and "mechanically sound", couldn't I run the car in stock form at least initially?
