production number for my 1968 911

Vehicle Information: Model: 911; Year: 1968; Body Type: Coupe; Engine (type, size, modifications): 2.0 Stock; Total Mileage: 143,000 (Zero Rebuild Ongoing);

Hello,My 1968 911 (no letter) was birthed in February 1968. I am the original owner and I picked it up in Zuffenhausen. I know everything about my car that is included on the Certificate of Authenticity. However, I am very curious as to whether its production number for the Type 911 can be determined. Even a general idea of how many preceded it would be of great interest. The only clue I have is a reference to the 5,000th 911 Type 911 (actually a 911E) produced in 1969 (no MM/DD referenced, PORSCHE - The Road From Zuffenhausen, by Dennis Adler), so my car is under 5,000 by a good margin. My car is among those with the original body concept, the dimensions of course changing beginning with the 1969 model year. I am restoring this car to its original look - no modernized embellishments except a Sony AM/FM/CD replacing the Becker Europa radio, and the paint color slightly tinted to a more cream color. The engine and transmission are the same.If you have even a good guess even within a few dozen, I'd appreciate your input. Here are my car's vital numbers:VIN 118.3.5161Engine No. 328.1032Thanks a bunch.Stephen W. Henninger9/03/2006
