Raising rear of car

Vehicle Information: Model: 911 Carrera; Year: 1984; Body Type: Coupe; Engine (type, size, modifications): 3.2; Total Mileage: 50000;

A tech article ion the latest Pano states that the best way to raise the rear of the car is by jacking it up from the center of the engine with a wood block for protection. (in this case the subject vehicle was a 930 Turbo)I thought I had seen a previous article on this forum the advised against this. Can you please comment on this as I am a bit confused. If it is OK to jack the back up via the engine then that really simpl,ifies the exercise but I sure don't want to mess things up.
