Rear main seal issues w/2006 Cayman S

Engine

Vehicle Information: Model (Boxster, Boxster S,Cayman, Cayman S): Cayman S; Year: 2006; Engine (type, size, modifications): 3.4l; Total Mileage: 11,200; Transmission: Manual;

Thanks Joel, but your answer leads me to a follow-up question. I've come across a 2006 Cayman S w/11,000 miles that I can buy well CPO. The build date is 9/05. Based upon your response, does that mean it would not have the shaft bearing fix you discuss to correct the "rear main seal" problems? If so, is it "reasonable" to ask the dealer to correct the problem? If they refuse, is this a condition that will likely develop on all cars manufactured before the fix at some time? Roughly how much might it cost to correct if the issue arises after Jan. 2012 when this car goes out of CPO warranty? (I'm guessing the car will have between 25-30,000 miles at that time).Appreciate a quick response if possible since I'm close to pulling the trigger on a purchase.Thanks,Dennis
