Chris, regarding the fellow who wrote in about refinishing the reflector on his 911, I have two suggestions. First, he can get some aluminum tape from a HVAC contractor. This tape, which is used to seal certain types of ductwork, is thin, and has a peel off adhensive on the back. The tape can be easily cut to fit the vertical circular shape near the bulb and the top and bottom horizontal sections. If carefully applied, it will reflect just as well as the stock unit. (This also gives some heat protection to the base plastic, if the owner uses halogen bulbs.)A second option is to spray paint the area with one of the newer "chrome" paints that have been introduced in the last few years. This reflects more than does a silver paint, but not as much as does the first option above.Hope this helps.
