Rear seat retention straps

Body and Interior

Vehicle Information: Model: 911; Year: 1986; Body Type: Targa; Engine (type, size, modifications): Carrera 3.2; Total Mileage: 50,500;

My question concerns the leather straps on the backs of the rear seats that hold the seatbacks in the upright position: is this the only manner for keeping the seatbacks upright? My owner's manual makes reference to a pin or lever that needs to be pulled to release the seatback, but I see no such pin. In addition, one of the straps is torn and needs to be replaced. How can I replace the strap that's on the seatback itself (as opposed to the one on the shelf)?Thanks for your feedback. - Will
