Rear Suspension noise

Suspension

Vehicle Information: Year: 2001; Engine (type, size, modifications): 3.2; Total Mileage: 46000; Transmission: Manual;

I have a noise coming from the rear of the car which seems to get worse as the car heats up after driving a while; it's most noticeable at low speeds. Whenever I hit a road break or speed bump there's a knocking sound from what seems to be the wheel wells. It's equally prominent from both sides. It doesn't sound like metal; more like dense plastic. I also notice it slightly when I abrubtly let off the accelerator at low speeds which makes me suspect a suspension component. I've been all over the rear of the car and cannot find anything obviously loose or hitting. I also don't notice any obvious handling problems. Any advice would be appreciated!
