Remanufactured engine after intermediate shaft failure

Model: 997, Year:2005, Mileage:20000, Type of use:Street use only
I am the third owner of a 2005 6 speed car. According to what I can determine, the original owner gave the car up at around 17000 miles when a remanufactured engine was installed after an intermediate shaft failure. The second owner recently sold the car to me with around 20000 chassis miles. I am becoming familiar with the shaft bearing failure and engine blow ups. My questions are in two parts. First does the presence of a "new" engine change the value of the car in anyway and why or why not? Secondly, if the engine was replaced in the summer of 2008 is there any way to determine the risk of future failure or determine what bearing this engine actually has knowing that later engines were subsequently changed to address the problem?
