Removal of velcro strip from leather dash

Vehicle Information: Model: 996 Turbo; Year: 2001; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 5000;

I am purchasing a used 2001 996 Turbo to replace my 2001 Carrera coupe. The Turbo has a full leather upholstered dash (black) that is in great condition (always parked indoors) but the previous owner put a 4 inch strip of velcro on the dash to hold his radar detector that has been there for roughly three years. The strip is just above the center A/C registers and just to the right of the instrument cluster cowling that rises above the dash level. What will be the best way to remove this velcro strip without harming the leather on the dash?
