remove smog pump
Vehicle Information: Model: 912e; Year: 1976; Body Type: Coupe; Engine (type, size, modifications): type4, none; Total Mileage: 50K;
I tore the rubber coupling between the fan and the pulley for the drive belt to the smog pump by stupidly using it to turn the engine over while adjusting the valves. But as a result realized how much noise was coming from the smog pump. I removed the check valve and can feel only a slight vacuum at idle with no pressure or vacuum at higher rpm. The car seems to still run great!Can I just remove the smog pump and cap the check valve and leave the lines in place with no other changes? I have been keeping this car totally stock so I would retain the parts and may eventually get another pulley assembly and reinstall the pump.Rich
