Replace working fuel pump at 55k miles to prevent problems? Update

Fuel System

Model: 993, Year:1996, Mileage:55000, Type of use:Both Street & Track
Joel, I ended up buying a pump from a Panorama advertiser at a more typical price using the 96402010400 number. The pump actually had number 0580464058 on it, which was exactly what the pump in the car had. It looked exact replacement. At first I thought the new pump was not working because I could barely hear it, but then realized the old pump was making a loud whine. It was wise to change it. The car runs great, at all rpm, loads etc. The only suggestion for do-it-yourself-ors is to get the car on a lift. Changing it on your back is really rough, but possible :-) I also changed the relay and fuel filter.
