Is replacement engine improved?

Engine

Model: Boxster S, Year:2000, Mileage:55,000, Type of use:Street use only
I am seriously considering buying my wife a 2000 Boxster S, year:2000 mileage:55k.In December, 2007 a new engine was put in and only 1400 miles since then.Having owned 911's over the last 20+ years, I understand the concept of engine/mechanical failures related to design flaws, abuse, and just bad luck. My impression Porsche NA is that they are fair with respect to dealing with catastrophic failures because of design flaws regardless of warranty status. After all, they are in the business of selling cars and have a reputation to protect. Having said that, they can't stay in business paying for every failure not related to design/production flaws. So I have been reading with interest the RMS and IMS issues which could scare away a buyer of a used Boxter. My QUESTION IS THIS: Is the 2007 replacement engine that went in to the 2000 Boxster S an improved version with respect to some of the known issues?
