Replacing Rear Hub Assy/Bearings & allignment

Suspension and Steering

Model: 911 C2, Year:1999, Mileage:41000, Type of use:Street use only
The Huming noise coming from the rear suspension while driving was diagnosed by the dealer to be the rear wheel Hubs/bearings assy. I have done some research and it looks like depending on how long this bearing has been rubbing the damage could be serious. Have anyone experienced this and besides the hub assembly what else could I expect that could be damaged? I am mainly asking so when I take the car to the dealeer I am more educated on the possible added repairs (axle, cv joints, etc?). Also dealer recommended an alignment after the repair is done. Do I need one? if yes, I am inclining to maintain the factory alignment set up even though I mainly drive the car in the street and maybe a DE event a year. Does the performance of the car gets affected if the alignment is changed to a more street set up?. Thanks in advance for taking the time to answer my questions.
