Replacing Silga glass windshield in 1978 911SC

Vehicle Information: Model: 911SC; Year: 1978; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 143000;

I have a question about sealing the edge of the laminate on a Silga windshield. You said to use a catalized clear auto ureathane to seal the edge. When I went to a parts place to get some the salesman was trying to sell me a spray can of clear paint. The only way I could get the catalised ureathane is buying a quart of clear and a container of the catalizer. He said that the catalized ureathane was for use with a paint gun. So what should I use? I dont know much about the differnces between ureathane, laquer, and other types of paint. Would the touch up clears work? I realy don't want to buy a quart of paint, but I want to do it right so I will buy it if that is what works. Thanks, Frank
