Revised:Driver's side door won't open from inside and outside

I went to get out of my car this morning and the door handle could be pulled open, but the latch wouldn't work as if it was locked. I tried locking and unlocking the car, but no change. Passenger side works, but not the driver's side. Any suggestions before I take it to the dealer?
