RMS or Power Steering Leak?

2007 C4S recently purchased from original owner with 16,XXX miles. Pristine car, always garaged. When I bought the car, it had a "whine" in the steering at full lock and I noted the PS fluid was low. Topped the PS reservoir off with proper fluid and noise went away. After TPS light came on, I took car to local, private shop that specializes in Porsche and asked them to address TPS issue and service the car. Tech noted a "slight oil leak" and thought RMS but quoted +/- $1,200 bill to R&R transmission. Never seen a drop of fluid on the garage floor so decided not to spend the money at the time. When I drive the car and pull back in the garage, there is a smell that almost has the signature of antifreeze but again, never a drop of fluid has been on the floor and the car sometimes sits for 5-7 days at a time. I am wondering if the "oil leak" my be the PS fluid and not engine oil and only leaks while operating, hence no fluid on garage floor. Guess my questions is would an experienced tech easily mistake one for the other? They did the full 20K service on the car and no other issues were noted.
