Roof Transport System

Model: 997 Carrera S, Year:2009, Mileage:28000, Type of use:Street use only
This is a further response to the question asked by a member on 12/2/11 and responded on 12/20/11. In October I used the factory transport system, with a Yakima Box, for a trip from MA to the Rennsport Reunion IV, and return, a 3 week trip of 6200 miles. The only instance where stability was an issue was on I70 in Utah where there were severe cross winds which did push the car somewhat, but it was not unmanageable. I also used the same setup in 2009 when I attended the Keystone Parade via Dallas, TX and Las Cruces, NM. This was a 6500 mile in my '06 Cayman S. There were no problems; noise was minimal and this set-up was virtually noiseless at speeds of 85 MPH in west TX. The only downside to this setup is the (approximate) 3 MPG hit to gas mileage at 75 MPH. Aside from more luggage space this provides useful space for a spare tire.Jeff Leeds NER
