Rough Idle - No Engine Acceleration

Fuel System

Vehicle Information: Model: 911 SC; Year: 1980; Body Type: Targa; Total Mileage: 105000;

Background: Car was running perfectly when took it in for body/paint restoration where all exterior trim, lights were removed. When the shop owner tried to start it one time, the car wouldn't run. I was able to duplicate the problem and it persists. I only drove it sraight from the mechanic's with a clean bill of health to his shop and it ran perfectly.Symptoms: Car will start and idle roughly. When the throttle is depressed, the car backfires repeatedly and dies. The car is being reassembled after completion.Question: Does the electrical or other system see that there are "open" connections and won't allow the car to aspirate correctly withhout everything plugged back in? They said they had not done anything within the engine compartment. I don't know if there is a vacuum leak or not. What can I check or look at to trouble shoot this?I would like to avoid towing it back to the mechanic, if possible.Thanks,Tim Cox
