Service Recalls

A few days ago, the Porsche dealer that I bought my '05 997 from called me about a 'service recall,' re: throttle cable, and wanted me to bring my car in for the service. Since I now have my car serviced by another, closer Porsche dealer, I called them to inquire about the recall. The Service Guy at this second dealer had no idea what I was talking about and had to look it up and download the notice to read it to me on the phone. I got the impression that had I not called, they would have never alerted me of the problem. This is not comforting. Are Porsche dealers obligated to call their customers about service recalls? If not, can I access a list of service recalls to be sure my car has been properly serviced?
