Shifting from 1st to 2nd and back down

Transmission and Clutch

Vehicle Information: Model: 911; Year: 1984; Body Type: Convertible; Engine (type, size, modifications): 3.2 Stock; Total Mileage: 46000;

84 911 Cab with 46k miles runs perfect except when shifting from 1st to 2nd or back and requires special attention. While I am not an aggressive driver, when accelerating quickly and shifting from 1st to 2nd I need to be careful not to let the RPM's exceed 3-4000 RPM or I encounter some gear grinding. Same problem occurs when down shifting from 2nd to 1st, in this situation I need to use care making sure RPM's are below 1500. I have learned to work with these problems, and the car shifts without effort otherwise. Other than a clutch adjustment, fluid change, and mechanical adjustments by my mechanic 3000 miles ago, there has been no history of transmission repair. As always your feed back is appreciated. Best regards - Bill
