slow leak in tire - ok to use fix-a-flat?

Wheels and Tires

Vehicle Information: Model : 911; Year: 2007; Mileage: 9500;

I have a slow leak in my rear tire (original Michelin Pilot Sport). It loses about 3-4 psi/week. I have looked several times for a nail or screw but cannot find anything, so I'm not sure of the cause of the leak. I still have several thousand more miles of tread on it so don't want to replace it now unless I have to.1.) Is there any reason I shouldn't just use fix-a-flat to see if that stops the leak?2.) The manual says ONLY to use the fix-a-flat stuff that came with the car (in which case I'll need to get another canister from my dealer). Why can't I use regular fix-a-flat from the auto parts store?Thanks!
