Smoking during left hand cornering

Engine

Vehicle Information: Year: 1974; Body Type: Targa;

During a recent event at Road America I ventured into a touring event that allowed us to drive on the track. Coming down Morraine Sweep into turn 5 is a hard left turn and then up a hill. Once completing this turn and looking into my rear view mirror a big puff of smoke would be coming out my rear. It would only happen following this turn and to some extent into the next turn (six) which is another decent hard left. It didnt happen enywhere else on the track as its mostly right hand turns and some slight lefts. My engine does leak a little oil but its not that bad, maybe a couple of drips a week at the most on the right side of the engine. What would cause this to this to happen and is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening again? I like to drive in drivers ed and some track events everyone once in a while. Embarrassing to say i got pulled into the pits and after a quick check I was allowed back on the track.
