speaker grill

Vehicle Information: Model: 911T; Year: 1969; Body Type: Targa; Engine (type, size, modifications): 2.2L; Total Mileage: 185,000;

Ed,I'm trying to replace a very damaged speaker grill on the dash of 1969 911T with a modified one I'm considering making myself. The question I have is that at high speeds there seems to be a significant amount of wind coming through where the speaker grill used to be. If I replace the original one with a modified one (solid with no holes) are there any overheating issues that may result? How important is it that the holes are there?, are they necessary to allow the air to flow freely, or does it even matter other than to allow sound from a speaker that no longer exists?Thanks.
