Steering Noise

Vehicle Information: Model: 911 C2; Year: 1990; Body Type: Convertible; Engine (type, size, modifications): 3.6 ; Total Mileage: 112,400;

when I turn the steering wheel 5 ~ 15 degrees or so in either direction I hear a "growling" noise from the engine compartment. I am suspecting a power steering pump issue but thought I would ask the experts to see what you think.The noise does increase to a certain degree as the engine RPM increases, and the noise tends to go away (usually) as the car reaches operating temperature.Can the power steering pumps be rebuilt, and if so is this a wise choice?Thanking you in advance, and thanks again for the great forum.
