Tacho & Alternator


Vehicle Information: Model: SC; Year: 1979; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 72k;

Further to my last question, I checked the voltage at the battery with the car running yesterday and it was 17v, checked it again today and it's now 20v. Also, the battery is reading well on the external charger, but when I start to chage it, it drops all the way off the scale. Tacho still inop, alternator light is always on and the battery refuses to start the car without a jump. Also, when I pulled forward to put the car back in the garage the engine laboured and spluttered when I blipped the throttle to catch the revs.Would I be safe to assume the voltage regulator has failed and now the battery has been killed?Thanks for any help you can offer.Cheers
