Tasteful aesthetic upgrades
- 1987
- 911 Carrera
Purists and non purists,
I am new to the Porsche game. I have loved them since a child but I know there are two different camps: the purists and the non purists. For the past few years I have been a Land Rover Defender guy and that culture is pretty open to customization and upgrades. Very difficult to find two defenders that are exactly alike. I just bought my first Porsche, a black on black 1987 911 Carrera Coupe and my instinct tells me to add a few tasteful yet functional perfornance upgrades that will please me functionally and aesthetically. Since the RUF Yellowbird was a 1987 3.2 shell with a twin turbo, I was wanting to add lighter weight RUF wheels along with a RUF rear bumper with vents which is lighter than the impact bumper currently installed. Is that a no no in the Porsche world, or is it okay as long as I'm not badging everything with RUF. Honestly when I bought the car it had been updated with SSI heat exchangers and exhaust, Steve Wong Chip, Bilstein shocks, and Tarrett suspension. I honestly don't think in terms of performance there is much else I can do? I just don't want to look like a POSER! Anyways if anyone has the time to school me on Porsche etiquette I would much appreciate it!
Respectfully,
Jon Connor
