Timing Chain tensioners

Engine

Vehicle Information: Model: 911 SC; Year: 1980; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 28,000;

With my 1980 SC, Ive read some concern with the timing chain tensioners. If the tensioner seal fails, the tensioners are unable to keep the timing chains taut with the possible result that the chains jump their sprockets. Modified idler arms introduced during 1980 made the tensioners less prone to fail than 78/79 models. However, some have suggested that ALL SC models should be modified with pressure-fed chains tensioners that were introduced in 1983. Is this a real concern for pleasure driving, or worth the change / upgrade?
