Wheels and Tires

Vehicle Information: Year: 1989; Engine (size, modifications): Stock; Total Mileage: 62000;

Current Setup:Front: 7x17 - 215/45/17 Dunlop SP8000Rear: 9x17 - 245/40/17 Michelin Pilot SportAll wheels 993 Cup'sKoni's with Eibach springs928 International Carbon Fibre BraceDevek Sway Bar - FrontI recently purchased a two 8x17 993 Cup wheels (and 5mm spacers) to replace my current front 7x17's (Wheel Enhancement sent a great set - had them refinished and they look new!). I have Pilot Sport 245/40/17's on the rear 9x17's (tire store didn't have 255's and was desparate) with half tread life remaining. I would like to mount the existing 245/40's on the 8x17 wheels for the front and have new 255/40's mounted on the 9x17's on the rear.Any comments or concerns with this setup?Will the 8x17's safely support the 245's?Some concern about maintaining front-rear aspect ratio has been raised (mal effects on computer/brain). Do I need to stick with 45 series on the front with 40 series on the rear?If the existing 245's are OK, should I go with a larger rear tire? 265/40 Pilot Sports are not available. Will the 9x17's safely support 275/40's?
