Tire Noise

Wheels and Tires

Vehicle Information: Year: 2000; Engine (type, size, modifications): Stock 2.7 liter; Total Mileage: Aprox. 26,000 miles; Transmission: Manual;

My wifes Boxster is very well kept and has the optional 17" sports classic wheels with Continental "Conti-Sport" tires. The original tires developed a tire noise that is not acceptable for an expensive car. When they were replaced at approx. 17,000 miles the noise disappeared, but came back after a couple of months.The dealer said all was OK and the current shop confirmsd the wheels are correctly aligned. No apparent suspension or bearing problems, they tell us.The dealer even said the tire noise was "normal"But the noise bothers me to the point that I don't drive the car anymore. My wife does not care.Have you heard anything to this respect from other owners? Would it help if I buy softer tires ext time, even if they last less?Please help!Wilhelm Roedenbeck
