Transmission and cotrol unit replacement

Model: Cayenne S, Year:2004, Mileage:145000, Type of use:Street use only
I have a 2004 Cayenne S that just had it's transmission replaced at 145,000 miles. The transmission was replaced by a third party, Courtney Truck Service. They purchased a remanufactured Porsche transmission from Porsche. After the transmission was replaced, the Cayenne was taken to the dealer, Carousel Porsche to have the control unit re-flashed. I think this was done for warranty purposes and also to initialize it, as the gear symbols on the driver's console didn't show up.Carousel mentioned that I may want to replace the control unit because the transmission may not shift properly, although it was re-flashed.My question is: "Why would the transmission control unit have to be replaced? The transmission is a genuine Porsche unit that rebuilt at the Porsche factory and matches the 2004 Cayenne. Was the control unit updated such that re-flashing doesn't properly reprogram the control unit?I will await your response.Keith Fritze
