Transmission pops out of 1st gear

Vehicle Information: Model: 911S; Year: 1977; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: chassis-136000; engine 78000;

When I went to engage 1st gear from a stop the shift lever popped back into my hand. I noticed the shifter was very "sloppy". I went home and found and replaced the shifter bushing which was in pieces. I took the car out and 1st gear was difficult to engage or it popped out. I can double clutch it in place most of the time. From a dead stop it can pop out of 1st. All other gears appear to work correctly. Could I have messed up the shifter alignment or am I looking at synchos and rebuild?
