Hello,

I stripped all of the underbody plastic off my car including the wheel well liners and shields. Would not believe how much dirt you can knock out of those. I think might have been the first time they had been off since the car was new from what I see in the records going back to the original owner. I've found that some of the studs that the plastic nuts go onto have some very minor surface rust on the. I've read that using the good old permatex rust conversion coatings is probably not a good thing on a high end car. What I read is that they can leave behind acid that later will show its ugly face in the form of pealing paint and rust. I usually on said things like this in the past if the studs are clean will paint them with factory touchup paint that I let dry and then install fastener onto stud. If the paint is chewed up after install of fastener I carefully take a brush and paint the end of it to seal it. I KNOW PROBABLY OVER THE TOP AND BORDERLINE OCD. Anyway would would be a good recommendation for the situation.

Thanks,

Gabe
