Behind the Scenes of OverHaulin’ with Host Chris Jacobs | Tech Tactics Live

Chris Jacobs joined Vu Nguyen and Manny Alban at the 2023 Porsche Parade in Palm Springs to chat about his career in car shows and what Porsche means to him. Chris was a longtime host of Overhaulin’ and is also a PCA member. He gave us a behind-the-scenes look into how he started at Overhaulin’, what goes on after the cameras stop filming, an inside look at the episode where they modify a Porsche 356, and, of course, the story of when he got punched filming a prank. If you enjoy reality automotive television, you’ll love the background stories of Overhaulin’.

Operation Bonneville: Conquering the salt flats in a Porsche 997 Carrera 4S

We were somewhere near the middle of a massive, crusty salt bed 120 miles west of Salt Lake City, also known as the Bonneville Salt Flats. Actually, we had no idea if we were near the middle, side, top or bottom — there are no roads, landmarks, or evidence of life anywhere to be seen in any direction. Our only reference point was the hazy outline of a mountain range somewhere in the far, far distance. We were driving exceptionally fast into nowhere on a giant sheet of blinding white salt. It was cool — and weird.

Own a Porsche? This website could make your ownership experience so much better

Did you know there’s a website, developed by Porsche, that can teach you a lot about the Porsche you’re currently driving? It’s called Video Tutorials for your Porsche. It covers the current Porsche model lineup except for the Taycan. Below are the models and years it covers. For the 911 and Panamera, goes back to 2009. It also covers every Cayenne and Macan made.

Macan 4 and Turbo First Drives: Porsche's EV crossovers impress

Choose your high risk/high reward analogy — Sputnik, Apollo 11, D-Day (well, maybe not D-Day) — but the fact is, it’s impossible to overestimate the importance of the launch of the Macan EV for Porsche AG. If you’re expecting any measure of suspense here, prepare to be disappointed. Porsche’s execution on this, the first of its nameplates to migrate to an EV platform, was predictably excellent, but this is much more complicated than just pulling off a near-flawless product launch.

Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS road car vs. GT4 RS Clubsport: One and the same?

TPC Racing's Mike Levitas gives us the most in-depth tech tours of a 718 Cayman GT4 RS road car and a GT4 RS Clubsport race car, from top to bottom — and underneath. At the end of the video, Mike demonstrates some of the interior functions of the race car in his shop's parking lot. (Professional driver, private lot — owned by TPC Racing.)

The compelling 2024 base model Cayenne

As we’ve mentioned before, prestige brands and their buyers have always had a complicated relationship with base models. Porsche is no exception. On the manufacturer’s side, the challenge is in creating a package compelling enough to be worthy of the brand without siphoning too many sales from higher trim levels. On the buyer’s side, there’s a panoply of ego-driven desires and expectations tempered with affordability concerns. Porsche has deftly managed all of these realities with the 2024 base model Cayenne.

2025 Porsche Taycan: First Drive Impressions

Porsche invited PCA to drive the company’s new line of Taycans. We were able to drive the base, rear-wheel-drive Taycan; the Taycan 4S Cross Turismo; and the Taycan Turbo S, the latter two of which have all-wheel drive. While this is considered a mild refreshening of the line, there have been significant upgrades to not just horsepower but also range and the speed of recharging.
